Musings

Howdy,

:rose: ------------- :rose:

I'd like to think that I'm getting better at drawing -- my knowledge of how to get down convincing facial expressions has heightened, at least. In regards to the rest of the body, however, I have faltered... and greatly. I haven't been practicing sketching in general as much as I should, and that's bad.

Yesterday, I went on something of a sketching spree and ended up filling about eight pages in one of my sketchbooks (it was the little sketchbook, but... still). Better than nothin', right? I need to be doing more of that....

The problem is that I have a rather difficult time motivating myself. If you have any advice for inspiring oneself to draw more, especially for a person who is rather impatient and tends to get frustrated when sketching, I'd sincerely appreciate it!

I don't know about drawing, but writing is hard to build up motivation for, too. I try to write something-- anything-- every day, be it original work or fanfiction. Like any routine, it takes a while to build, and most of it gets deleted anyway, but the important thing isn't that I kept it, it's that I wrote it.

Mmm. Yes, I agree. Writing can be just as difficult. Keep on it, though. The more you read and write the better you get. As for motivation, perhaps delving into books by authors you like will help, as well as just... observing the world around you. You never know when you'll get an interesting idea for a story. :)

I know what you mean about motivation. I think I've gotten better since last year (when I finally decided to re-open my 8th grade sketchbook), but with school and all, it 's hard to make yourself draw.

On another note: I didn't know people could actually go to the Annie Awards! That would be so cool! :)

Mmm. Yes, I can understand that, too. More responsibilities equals less time to draw. I have little excuse because I currently have no job and can't afford schooling. Glad to hear that you've improved artistically, though!

That they can! And, yeah, it is kinda fun. :aww:
